Update: Despite the inclement weather, lots of people attended the groundbreaking for Austin Habitat for Humanity’s new home in the Dawson Neighborhood, including CEO Kelly Weiss and Director of Operations Greg Anderson (who attended the Dawson Neighborhood Association’s February meeting), and a local news team was there to capture the event. Former DNA officer Mitchell Harrison and current DNA officer Sandy McMillan were there to represent the DNA. In addition to all the good work that Habitat does for our community, they also will certify their new building through Austin Energy’s Green Building Program!
Invitation to the event: Austin Habitat for Humanity is incredibly happy to invite the entire Dawson Neighborhood to its new HQ Ground Breaking on Monday, February 23 at 9am. After completing the purchase and signing the construction documents, Habitat is about to embark on bringing all of its offices, production and its ReStore under one roof—the old Chuck E. Cheese/Ross at 500 West Ben White (NE corner of South 1st Street and Ben White)—allowing this great nonprofit to serve more hard-working families and provide more education opportunities. This 53,000 square foot space will be an amazing new home for Habitat, and we in Dawson are very excited to have this great organization in our neighborhood!
Hope to see you all there.
